Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani [First Look]

The poster of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone dancing and having a good time. This is their second movie together after Bachna Ae Haseeno and looks like the duo had a blast during the shoot of the film.

The film also features Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin in supporting roles. Apparently, it is a tribute to Nasir Hussain, who is Aamir Khan’s uncle and has made classic films such as Dil Deke Dekho,Teesri Manzil and Yaadon Ki Baarat.

Kareena Kapoor's Wedding Outfit is a Bespoke Piece by Ritu Kumar

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan's wedding is the most talked about event right now. First there was much speculation about the date - it's apparently on October 16, even though Kareena has been resolutely mum on the issue - and then the venue. Places like Casablanca and the Maldives were mentioned before venues like Pataudi Palace. Now it's time to figure out what the bride will wear.

Kareena Kapoor's wedding outfit is a recreation of mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore's wedding joda and has been designed by Ritu Kumar.

What Kareena Will Wear

The designer tells us she has updated the traditional Farshi pajama-kurta, presented to Sharmila by her own mother-in-law, Begum Sajida Sultan of Bhopal, who wore it for her wedding in 1939, to fit Kareena.

"We had to redo the Farshi pajama, because the ones created earlier were actually a cross between a gown and a pajama and came with a trail that the bride had to carry, or have someone carry. Also, they were designed around the one size fits concept, so the new design has been tailored to fit Kareena better," says Kumar, who researched Indian royal style and even photographed the Pataudi women for her book Costumes & Textiles Of Royal India.

She says she sourced the fabric - a peachy pink that is as similar to the original as possible - from weavers in Benares. The weave was created in-house at Kumar's studio and then woven by local artisans. Then, it took a little more than four months for two families of master craftsmen to finish the zardozi work. "About 100 years ago, great emphasis was placed on stitches and their use on three dimensional surfaces. There was no bling in those days.  So it was quite a challenge to recreate the outfit, contemporizing it, and yet making sure it stays true to the aesthetic of the family history."

A rust and gold tissue dupatta with an avocado gote at the hem - the original was simply repaired - completes the look.

Kumar adds that Kareena knew that she was going to be wearing a heritage piece and hopes that she will pass her own wedding outfit down to the next generation.

Kumar is also dressing Saif's sisters Soha and Sabah. While Soha will wear a peach woven lehnga and odhni to one event, she will also wear a red Farshi pajama that had been designed for Deepa Mehta's Midnight's Children; Sabah will wear a gold and white Farshi pajama from Kumar's Falaknuma collection.

Vote: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan vs Shweta Nanda in Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla

On the completion of 25 years in the fashion industry, designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla unveiled their book India Fantastique at Antilla, the residence of Nita and Mukesh Ambani, last Saturday. We spotted the beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as well as her sister-in-law Shweta Bachchan Nanda at the event wearing colourful Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla outfits.

Ash chose a black maxi with bright orange, yellow and green embroidery that seemed a little too loud and overpowering. Contrasting to her, sister-in-law Shweta looked elegant in this white lehenga with colourful embroidery.

Which outfit do you like better? Leave us a comment and let us know.

PCJ Delhi Couture Week 2012: Glamorous Showstoppers

The recently-concluded PCJ Delhi Couture Week saw some new faces on the ramp, in fact some older actresses from Bollywood. We saw Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Sridevi and yesteryear actress Sharmila Tagore strutting down the ramp at the fashion extravaganza.

Madhuri Dixit-Nene walked the ramp in a dazzling lehenga choli complete with a red dupatta and red vermillion for designer Anju Modi. We think she looked lovely.

Making a comeback on screen as well as the ramp was the beautiful Sridevi. Clad in a Sabyasachi sari and a heavily embroidered full-sleeved blouse, Sridevi took many by surprise!

Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore looked as elegant as ever in an Ashima-Leena creation. That bright orange sari and the transparent jacket made the Kashmir Ki Kali actress stand out on the ramp! We just love the glow on her face :)

Last but not the least, Bollywood's latest sensation Katrina Kaif made an entry in a stunning Manish Malhotra lehenga choli at the Delhi Couture Week. Wondering why the actress forgot to smile on the ramp.

Who is your favourite showstopper from the Delhi Couture Week? Leave us a comment and let us know.

Madhuri Dixit-Nene Obsessed with Herself on Twitter

We love ‘stalking’ our favourite celebrities! We are talking about ‘following’ our gorgeous B-town biggies on Twitter. So when recently the beautiful Madhuri Dixit-Nene went on a rampage posting her own pictures on the microblogging site, we couldn’t stop laughing to ourselves :)

The dhak dhak girl of Bollywood, who is a judge on the popular dance reality show Jhalak Dhikla Ja, no doubt looks as ravishing as ever. But we feel her current hobby seems to be posting her own photos!

The gorgeous actress uploaded a Twitpic of herself last week wearing a bright orange saree! The occasion? Well, apparently Madhuri was on her way to a blood donation drive in Pune! Wondering why she wore that blingy saree, gold jhumkas and not to forget the make up to a cause like this one?!

Oh and let’s not forget all those Twitpics she posted on Monday night posing on the sets of Jhalak Dhikla Ja! We almost burst out laughing when she tweeted asking her followers to guide her with cropping her photo to fit her display pic! This is what she tweeted:

@MadhuriDixit1 : Struggling with getting my profile pic just right. What size does it have to be or does it have to be square?
Square, huh? Whatever!

We think pictures of the twins Winston and Viraaj with Celina and her husband Peter Haag look like an adorable family portrait. What do you think?

6 Ways of Taking Care of Your Feet this Monsoon

1. Choosing the Right Footwear
Preparing yourself with the right footwear is as essential as equipping yourself with umbrellas and raincoats. Avoid wearing closed shoes since they tend to accumulate water, which will end up wetting your feet. Also wear your socks once you reach office to avoid bacteria to grow resulting in fungal infections.

2. Wash your feet immediately
Absolutely simple yet the most important is washing your feet thoroughly once you’re back home or in office in case of any contact with the muck on the roads. The season is known for its infections and hence it is crucial to get rid off all the dirt immediately.

3. Moisturizing your feet
Get yourself a moisturizer for the feet, which must be applied, every night before sleeping. This will not only help you get rid of the dead skin but also keep your legs supple.

4. Cut your nails
Long and un-kept nails are one of the biggest culprits, which store dirt for the longest time. Cutting your nails short can keep you away from any sort of contamination.

5. Pedicure
Take time off your busy schedules and go to your nearest salon for a pedicure regularly especially during monsoon. If time doesn’t permit, you must dip your feet in hot water once a week and do a mini pedicure. Don’t forget to add some liquid antiseptic to the water to help you get rid of all the dirt. Scrub your feet well using a good scrapper.

6. Dry your Footwear
If your shoes have been soaked in rainwater it is essential for you to dry them under the sun before putting your feet in them again. Damp shoes are home to a number of bacteria that can ultimately cause infection.

Enjoying this season in the best possible way also brings with itself some significant things to be kept in mind to take care of your body especially the feet. Follow these handy tips and stay away from all the infectivity.

How to Care for Pearl Jewellery

They are chic, they are elegant and they can make even an ordinary outfit look ultra glam. Pearls are a must-have in every fashionista’s jewellery box. But they are not your ordinary gemstones. You simply can’t dump them with other earrings and knick-knacks in your jewellery box. They are special and need some extra care because their source of origin – oysters – is organic. They are more delicate than other stones and can be easily cracked, scratched or damaged. Here are a few ways in which you can care for these precious jewels.

Cleaning pearls
Clean your pearls with warm water and mild soap, preferably gentle hand soap. Never use any acid or alcohol-based cleaners. You can also use special cleansers for pearls that are available in the market. After cleaning them, never use a hair dryer to dry them; just put them on a towel to dry them out. Also don't forget to clean these jewels with a soft cloth each time you wear them.

Caring for pearl jewellery
While dressing up, always wear these precious stones at the end. Make up, perfume, hairspray can easily corrode your pearls as these stones are vulnerable to acids. Wear them preferably 30 minutes after you have used perfume, make-up or any other chemical on your body.

Preserving the lustre on pearls
Humidity is good for these stones as it helps them retain their lustre. So it’s is a good idea to wear them frequently since moisture is good for them. If you are storing your pearls in a locker keep a moist sponge or a glass of water in the locker as it will keep them healthy.
How to store pearls
Don’t expose your pearls to sunlight or extreme cold. Extreme temperature will degrade them.

It’s good to get these stones restrung every year. Pure silk thread is always best for pearls.

Preserve these ornaments in a soft cloth bag. Silk pouches are the best but you can also store them in velvet-lined boxes or even in chamois leather pouches. Never store your pearls in plastic wrappers.

With these easy tips, you can preserve your precious pearls for a long time. And who knows your favourite pearl necklace will be new and as striking as ever when you pass it on to your granddaughter. ;)

Aishwarya Rai Picks Sabyasachi for London Dinner

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's spin doctors have been pretty active. After the carefully released images from Cannes, comes this. The actress was invited to attend a dinner hosted by a luxury hotel chain in London. Dressed in a flowing Sabyasachi creation, the actress looked as though she had been furiously working her way through all criticism about her weight and sartorial choices.

No awkward fits or heavy fabrics, but a clever flattering silhouette that nipped and tucked away what she didn't want to reveal, highlighting what she wanted to. The focus was her face, which had far more definition than what we have seen in a long time. Welcome back Ash!

Vote: Which Khan will deliver 2012's biggest hit?

We’re already halfway through 2012 and yet there has not been a single movie that has taken the box-office by storm. So as usual we have to depend on the three reigning Khans, Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh, to blow our minds.

Salman Khan is all set to scorch the screens with  Ek Tha Tiger that will release in August.

Aamir Khan too is ready with his psychological thriller Talaash coming up in November.

Not to be left behind, King Khan will also be seen on the big screen doing what he does best – romance – in Yash Chopra’s London Ishq.

Amongst the three who will deliver the biggest hit of 2012: Salman, Aamir or SRK? Vote for your favourite.

Two Beauties, One Dress

A celebrity's most-dreaded moment: Turning up in the same dress as someone else to a function! As much as they try to avoid it, every now and then actresses are caught on camera wearing the same designer number. Well, what can we say, we're just forced to compare. Take a look at these celebrities and tell us who you think wore it better.

Preity Zinta vs Anushka Sharma: Be it red or blue, both actresses look very latin in this frilly salsa-style dress. But with her toned body, we prefer Anushka. What say?

Bipasha Basu vs Lea Michele: Both actresses let the abstract print shine without adding any jewellery. Still we like Lea better because she looks all cute and girlish in it.

Sneha Taurani vs Katrina Kaif: The two did not only wear the same dress in different colours but to make it worse, they wore it to the same event. Katrina kept her cool and scores with us due to that.

Priyanka Chopra vs Rani Mukerjee: We won't take sides when it comes to these stylish actresses because both look hot. We leave it up to you to pick your favourite!

Kelly Brooks vs Sonam Kapoor: That's a whole lot of flowers both chose to show off. While Kelly keeps it all natural, we like the classy style Sonam adds with the bright red bag and matching lipstick. You agree?

How to take care of Frizzy Hair

Hair is porous, so your cuticles suck up every bit of moisture they get. During the hot months, when humidity hits the roof, cuticles absorb moisture and expand. This causes hair to frizz up. The scorching summer sun combined with heat styling procedures like blow-drying or straightening can result in frayed and brittle ends.  An easy way to tame your mane is by using a hydrating, nourishing shampoo and conditioner. Refrain from excessive styling with blow-dryers, curling irons or flat-irons, as too much heat damages the cuticle and leads to more frizz. Dr Aparna Santhanam, consulting dermatologist, Hindustan Unilever, says, “It’s important to use hats, scarves or umbrellas each time you step out to protect your hair from damage. Tie long hair back gently while travelling to minimise breakage.”

SHOW SOME LOVE
Hair-care or pampering needn’t always be an expensive salon affair. Dr Santhanam lists out a few tricks to help turn your grooming routine into a full-blown pampering session:
Hot oil massage: Dr Santhanam suggests beginning your home hair spa with a deep oil massage to the scalp and hair, using oil enriched with different herbs and natural ingredients. “Warm a little coconut oil slightly and add a few curry leaves, hibiscus and jasmine flowers. Decant it and massage deeply for about 20 minutes,” she says.
Deep-conditioning hair pack: Step two is a heavy-duty conditioning mask. You can either go for readily available protein/wax hair masks, or whip up a natural pack with a mix of egg whites and natural products like hibiscus and aloe vera.
Get the hot towel: After the pack has worked its magic on your hair for 20 minutes, wrap your hair with a steamed hot towel. This will make sure that your hair and scalp absorb all the proteins and nutrients from the pack.
Wash up: Rinse with a deep cleansing clarifying shampoo and conditioner.
Post-wash conditioning: The final step involves applying a serum or leave-in conditioner for shine. It’s best to let the hair dry naturally. If you’re stepping out, blow-dry to a sleek, desired finish.

Ash's weight issues? Let her be.

Don’t be surprised if you get to hear the words ‘leave me alone’ someday from the rooftop of Jalsa.  Aishwarya Rai Bachchan surely is paying a heavy price to be one of the most beautiful women in the world and one of the top actors in Bollywood.

Lately I have been reading about all the flak and slamming that she has been receiving on her post baby weight. Critics are attacking her weighty issues left, right and centre and have even compared her to the likes of Victoria Beckham  and Angelina Jolie who have bounced back to shape post pregnancy. If I’m not mistaken, these were the same critics who wrote about Ash being unable to conceive for reasons best known to them and were thrashed by Big B calling it ‘lowest quality of journalism’.

I feel it’s time to let her BE. She has been surrounded and hounded just too many times at regular intervals in her life for being a celeb. This is HER moment. Motherhood is a blissful emotion, something that cannot be described in words. A mother shares the most beautiful and strong bond with her child. It makes her the happiest person on earth. She is in this happy space. Therefore focussing on and discussing the weight gain that comes with the package on a public platform is frivolous and irresponsible. Thankfully, she’s not one of those vanity struck stars who get wheeled in for plastic surgery and liposuction straight from the labour room.

I’m happy that she isn’t hiding or hibernating but facing the world with pride, dignity and class.

She has decided to nurse, nurture and invest her time in bringing up the baby rather than spend hours at the gym trying to look her skinniest best.

And just like the mother, the baby is worth it!

Yes, Billionaire Mark Zuckerberg Got Married

We didn't get so much as a hint of his impending wedding, so we were all quite surprised to know that Facebook billionaire Mark Zuckerberg ditched the world's single ladies for his long time girlfriend Priscilla Chan. To those of us who have dreamed of being married to him, as well as other crazy fans, this wedding came as a shock.

To the wedding in their Palo Alto home backyard, Mark (who is otherwise in his hoodies) wore a suit and tie, while Chan wore a Claire Pettibone dress embroidered with matte sequins and ivory cut-outs with a sheer back.

Zuckerberg and Chan met as undergraduates at Harvard University in 2004. Zuckerberg, now 28, dropped out of college to work on Facebook, while Chan, a pediatrician, stayed on and earned her undergraduate degree in 2007.

While Zuckerberg's wedding is happy news, we already have a few California divorce lawyers who think that getting married was a smart business move, as well as a personal milestone, for the Facebook chief, with the timing of the wedding coming the day after the company's initial public offering, potentially proving particularly advantageous. That Zuckerberg's net worth jumped by $2.7 million in a day, is the cherry on top of an eventful weekend for him.

But while Zuckerberg might have fallen of the eligible billionaire list, there are still other available bachelors.

It's a Baby Boy for Shilpa Shetty & Raj Kundra

After all the wait, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty delivered a healthy baby boy early morning on Monday. According to sources close to the couple, both mom and baby are doing fine.

On Sunday, the gorgeous actress and co-owner of the IPL team Rajasthan Royals had gone to the hospital for a normal check-up, but the doctors admitted her as the contractions had begun.

The couple got married three years ago and this is their first child. We congratulate the new parents :)

18 Minutes to a Beautiful You All Day Long

Morning look in 3 minutes
Less is more, especially in the morning when you are all busy getting ready to take off to office.

“Keep it simple,” suggests the expert. For him, early morning make-up includes, first of all, a good foundation, carefully applied with either a sponge or simply with your fingertips. Important: Stick to your skin tone! “Even though fair skin is thought beautiful in India, there’s no use in trying to change the colour of yours by using some lighter foundation,” Nahush points out.

On top of the foundation add:
A pinkish blush on the cheeks.
A bit of lip gloss or even some blush on the lips
One coat of mascara

Done! “No lash curling or face sculpting required,” says Nahush Pise. “The day has just started, so keep it natural.”

Before you leave the house, don’t forget to pack your little make up kit to take along wherever you go.

Afternoon look in 5 minutes
After lunch it’s time to refresh your make-up and add a bit more colour to it.

“Now you can put on some lipstick, and enhance your eyes with some extra mascara and kajal.” That, again, gets you ready for the second half of the day in just a few minutes.

Asked about brands or no brands, the make-up artist doesn’t say yes or no but explains, “If the product blends well, stays well and feels good, its name doesn’t matter to me.”

In terms of powder or cream blush the expert favours the former for obvious reasons. “Cream powder attracts dust.”

Evening Look in 10 minutes
Right before you venture out into the night, spend another ten minutes to add a bit more drama to your evening face.

“Now you can play with colours. Normally all kinds of golds, browns, maroons and oranges match Indian skin tones," says Nahush. But don’t overdo it. “These 25 colours in one kits never work. Use a max of four colours at a time only,” advises the expert. Also add some lip liner and satin matt lip gloss and refresh the mascara too.

After reading all this you feel like stocking up on colours, crèmes and such? Fine, but do it as the expert does and purchase new items one by one. “Never go and say ‘Now I’ll buy make up’ but focus on one product at the time.”

If you are not used to wearing make up at all, Nahush encourages you to simply try something new every day. "One day put on some mascara, next add some eye shadow to it and so on. This way you won’t feel embarrassed and can get used to your new look.”

Now that your face is all pretty and ready to be shown to the world, only one question remains: Do guys actually notice that we’ve put in so much effort to look our very best? Again, this smile creeps on Nahush's face. “Well, of course guys like it but only when it’s done the right way. Even though it’s a lot of work, make it look natural and fresh. With make-up you should never look made up!”

So there you have it - your guide to staying gorgeous all day long!
